In spite of its enormous contributions to global art and culture, Africa’s share of ownership and control within the sector has been abysmal. As a result, African artists, across genres, continue to look to the West for validation and opportunities. In this session, we engage builders, artists, and critics within the continent on the importance and challenges of building sustainable cultural institutions. Moderated by Oris
Aigbokhaevbolo, we are joined by Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, Lola Shoneyin, Thando Mgqolozana, and George Gachara.
