Poetry as an anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist force enacts in a riot of words and protest poems that reinforce calls for an egalitarian society at a time that reveals, in stark images and statistics, economic schisms that have always been there. As the world negotiates a new order out of the debris of the old, poets, Lebohang Masango, Onias Landveld, Paul Word, and AJ Daggar Tolar, in this deeply charged event,
perform against the pullback to normalcy, back to freewheeling capitalism and rapacious greed, back to state-sanctioned oppression and police brutality, racial, gender and class inequities. It is poetry as machete and spear, as truth serum, charge and wake up call.
